Bio

Danielle Marie Ochoa is a Mexican-American fashion and textile designer based in Tempe, Arizona. She is currently pursuing an MA in Art History at Arizona State University. Her research focuses on Mesoamerican material culture, the textile traditions of contemporary indigenous peoples in the Americas, and Modern and Contemporary Latin American Art. She has studied Zapotec weaving in Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca, Mexico and recently completed a textile residency studying Maya back-strap weaving in Antigua, Guatemala.

Ochoa earned her BFA from the Savannah College of Art and Design, studying Fashion Design and Fibers before working in the industry as a designer focused on embroidery/embellishment, developing dye standards and washes, and creating novelty woven and knit fabrications for high-end dresses, jackets, and sweaters.

In 2024, she earned a BA in Art History from Arizona State University and started a  curatorial internship at the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) in Scottsdale, Arizona.
